When we moved out of our Seattle house we didn’t transfer much furniture over to the new house, but we definitely made a point to move all of Sophie’s nursery furniture over. We had chosen those pieces very intentionally to grow with her (such as the larger sized dresser and the 4-in-1 convertible crib) and that decision has continued to serve us well.
Since we have an actual playroom in this house (wow, am I grateful for that!) I am doing my best to keep that as a dedicated space for exactly that… play! Which leaves the girls’ bedrooms as peaceful places for sleeping / rest.
In Sophie’s toddler bedroom we created a “wildflower meadow” kind of vibe and while we still love that look so much, I couldn’t find a bed linen set in an aesthetic that I liked that would fit a full-sized bed. That meant going back to the drawing board! I didn’t want a major departure from the way her room was already designed, but I knew I would probably have to pivot at least a little bit.
In the end, we landed on a similar color scheme while embracing a bow (or “coquette”?) motif which feels like the perfect vibe for where Sophie is at in her life right now.
Here are a few peeks of her new space and how we’ve adjusted things slightly from her toddler room:

CONVERTED BED
This is the second conversion we’ve made with Sophie’s Larkin Convertible Bed… it began as a crib, then a toddler day bed, and now a full-sized bed for our big girl! I love that in the basic iteration of the full size frame, it’s low to the ground so it’s a little less distance for her to fall in case she rolls off the bed while we’re in the initial adjustment period. I was honestly a bit concerned about that before we converted the bed, but after seeing it fully assembled I felt a lot better about the transition.
When I was originally starting Sophie’s bedroom redesign I was under the impression that her convertible bed frame would be a twin size so I had already determined that we would move forward with our beloved Newton mattress (they offer Crib and Twin sizes!). Upon further inspection, I realized that the bed frame would actually be a full size. 🙃 I had NO idea where to even begin looking for a full-sized mattress for little ones. I ended up stumbling upon the Helix brand which offers really cool double-sided kids mattresses that grow with your kiddos (one side for little kiddos and one side for bigger kids!).
And while Sophie has yet to have a major bedtime accident, we also invested in their waterproof mattress encasement. If we didn’t get one I just know we’d end up regretting it — Murphy’s Law and all that, you know?

When we converted Sophie’s crib to a toddler bed, I found the perfect pastel floral bedding set that she absolutely adored. There was a mini pillow as well as a duvet + down insert that suited our needs so well. Since I expected the next iteration of her bed conversion to be a twin bed, I planned to just upgrade to the same set in the corresponding twin size.
After realizing that we would need a full-sized setup, I was very disappointed to find that the print that we love isn’t available in a full size (even though the brand does offer full-sized duvets + covers, just not in the print we wanted 😞).
I ended up settling on this adorable bow duvet cover & matching bow sham covers for Sophie’s big girl bed linens — the set worked well with the existing decor, while still feeling fresh and new. Even though I wasn’t looking to make any major changes to the space, this aesthetic feels more true to where Sophie is now in her life and who she is as a tiny person — it’s kind of poetic that I was forced to make these decor adjustments from my initial plan as it seems to mirror the fact that Sophie is growing and I’m still clinging to her tiny-hood.
Additionally, we went with these bed pillows, these sham pillows and this comforter insert for inside the duvet cover. We also chose these lilac bed sheets for a pop of color to remain cohesive with the room’s aesthetic.
Lastly, we got this muslin blanket for Sophie to use instead of her duvet in the warmer months.

We also got Sophie two bedside tables with a little lamp for each one. I couldn’t resist these sweet brass lamps with bow embellishments — especially since they’re cordless, dimmable, and respond to touch instead of needing a switch. I also really liked the added visual texture of the folded lamp shades to the room (even though they’re going to be a major pain to dust).
*I will note that they’re quite small compared to the rest of the furniture so they seem a bit out of balance, but they’re exactly what we were looking for at this time… and they’re really affordable so it won’t be the end of the world if Sophie accidentally knocks them over at some point. We can always upgrade the lamps later down the line.
The bedside tables are also perfect for keeping her tissue box, cup of water, and her Yoto player within reach!

RUG
It’s no secret that we love Ruggable’s washable rugs in our home, and they make excellent sense in a small child’s room. We chose a neutral grey-toned design (the now-discontinued Maral Border Rug in Hazel) for Sophie’s space because it felt like a nice contrast to all of the gold hardware (not wanting everything to be too “matchy-matchy”) and would be versatile enough to work with any decor adjustments. So far, that’s rung true!
That said, it’s super easy to swap out the rug covers so you can always change one out if there’s a design / pattern that works better with any new decor that you choose. If we were shopping for one now, I would choose the Serenata Ash Grey Rug as an alternative.

ART
We kept all of Sophie’s existing art up because there was no need to deviate from them. We love this pretty set of botanical prints that have the vibe of pressed wildflowers, which are from Etsy, if you can believe it! They’re a digital download and while our printer isn’t the best for photo printing, it got the job done and they look great in our little girl’s room.
We reused the gold frames from the first iteration of her nursery — the overall style is simple so they’re a bit more modern in that regard, but the gilded finish still feels quite traditional which works well with the other [art & mirror] frames in her room.
The area above Sophie’s bed felt too empty (especially since removing her Owlet cam 😭) so we put a large print there that seemed to align with her new bedroom aesthetic. I thought the “real art” in an impressionist / abstract style with complementary colors would be a nice contemporary pairing to the vintage style botanical prints and overall antique + traditional vibe.

I adore this little picture frame on the dresser featuring a photo of Sophie and her little sister from our family session last summer, but I plan to update it with a new photo of them from this summer’s session (which was captured at a local rose garden)!
We’re also very proud of Sophie for adapting to the way that we use her Hatch light to signal when it’s okay to leave her room in the mornings. She’s done really well with it ever since we implemented that system two years ago! We’re going to continue with that system and the sound machine for now because if it’s working, why change it?
That said, Skylight recently launched a schedule / calendar / reminder / sound machine / night light for kids (called the “Buddy”!) that sounds like it would be such a great solution for Sophie to graduate to as we replace her baby night light.

DRESSER / MIRROR / LIGHTING
The Larkin 8-Drawer Dresser has been great for holding Sophie’s clothes, hygiene items (body lotion, baby wipes, diaper cream, etc.), and her diapers when she was a baby, but it’s also been perfect for growing with her. There’s plenty of space for her clothes, socks & various accessories and I can totally see it being useful in the future as she grows up into tween and even into her young adult life.
Her above-dresser mirror has been used in every iteration of her room and I think it’s suited each style well.
We’re not big overhead lighting fans in our family and since floor and table lamps can be a bit of a hazard for small kids, we thought the perfect solution would be sconce lighting. However, neither my husband nor I are versed on electrical work and we also weren’t keen on re-wiring the girls’ rooms so this battery operated bulb option was the perfect solution for us — no electrician needed! Attaching the sconces to the wall couldn’t have been easier; however, I do recommend using this tool to make sure everything is level!

BOOKCASES
When our playroom furniture arrived we relocated Sophie’s low, two-shelf bookcase to Chloe’s nursery so the tall, three-shelf bookcases went back to Sophie’s bedroom. We used to keep the majority of books in the playroom, but when we rearranged things we realized it made more sense to keep books in the girls’ rooms so that they can retreat to their own spaces to read any time they need some quiet time to themselves.
Both girls have each been gifted an Anywhere Chair by my godmother and they’ve been huge hits. Sophie loves to lounge in the chair while reading her books in her room; it’s the perfect cozy reading spot! The chair covers are removable and washable (thank goodness! 🤣) which means that they are interchangeable so you can buy covers separately and even switch them up seasonally if you wanted to! Sophie’s Anywhere Chair is currently in a Fig Twill cover.
This ended up being a much more emotional transition than I expected it to be. Seeing Sophie’s room looking so different and “grown up” really has me in my feelings; these milestones have a way of giving you a major gut-punch. That said, seeing her so happy and excited about her new space really helped to move me through those sad emotions much faster. It really is such a joy to watch your kids grow. 🥹
