When we moved out of our Seattle house we didn’t transfer much furniture over to the new house, but we definitely made a point to move all of Sophie’s nursery furniture over. We intentionally bought the larger sized dresser and the 4-in-1 convertible crib so that she could continue to use them as she grows, and that decision has served us well.
Since we have an actual playroom in this house (wow, am I grateful for that!) I am doing my best to keep Sophie’s bedroom as a place for sleeping / rest and the playroom is a dedicated space for exactly that… play!

If you remember from my initial nursery post, my loose inspiration for Sophie’s space was “Parisian Garden” and I drew color inspiration from Dockatot’s “La Vie en Rose” pattern. While we are still embracing the general garden vibe, the theme has definitely loosened up as Sophie has grown — from a manicured garden to now more of a wildflower meadow.
Here are a few peeks of her new space and how we’ve adjusted things slightly from her baby nursery.

CONVERTED CRIB
Sophie has graduated out of her crib and it was a BIG milestone for mama to process. 😩 I’m still processing it, to be perfectly honest. I miss being able to put her in her crib and not having to worry about her overnight because she was safe and confined. Now I wake up multiple times a night to check the monitor to make sure that she’s okay.
It was pretty tough when we first made the switch — she did great for the first couple of nights, but then when the “newness” novelty wore off she didn’t want to stay in bed and it was rough for a few weeks, but she’s finally gotten used to it and has been doing great! Occasionally, she’ll get up and leave her room in the mornings before her Hatch light turns green (signaling that it’s time to wake up), but for the most part she abides by it. I’ve been so impressed with Sophie adjusting to all of the changes we’ve made this year — she’s been SUCH a champ and I am endlessly proud of her.
Potty training has far-and-away been my least favorite part of parenting so far, but switching out of a crib was my second least favorite. If you’re going to be swapping the crib soon, here are some great tips for switching to a toddler bed.

As Sophie has graduated to becoming a preschooler we wanted to continue with the floral theme, but it’s evolved into more of a whimsical wildflower kind of vibe… which was determined by her new pastel floral bedding set. It still feels very delicate and dainty, but less… “precious”? I feel like nurseries by definition tend to lean very sweet, so our decor choices so often reflect that. This aesthetic feels more true to where Sophie is now in her life and who she is as a tiny person — still very soft and sweet, but a little bit more free spirited.
I happened to stumble on this mini pillow and duvet + down insert a year or so ago and have had it earmarked for when Sophie graduated to her toddler bed, desperately hoping that it wouldn’t sell out by the time we were ready for it. They’re just right for both our setup in her room and for our climate. The down duvet is super warm and the perfect layer since Sophie doesn’t have a top sheet and the pillow is soft, but not so plump as to hold her head in a weird position that might bother her neck. We all really love this bedding and totally feel that they were worth the splurge, especially since Sophie will be graduating to a twin sized bed by the time Chloe is ready for the toddler bed upgrade (and thus, inheriting the bedding 😭) so everything will get plenty of use. I’ve also linked Sophie’s fitted sheet here.

ART
All of these art prints are from Etsy. When Sophie was a baby I had a vision for an antique-looking botanical print gallery wall. To suit Sophie’s bedroom’s new aesthetic I found another very pretty set of botanical prints that have the vibe of pressed wildflowers, which I love! They’re a digital download and while our printer isn’t the best for photo printing, it got the job done and they look great for a preschooler’s room.
We reused the gold frames from the first iteration of her nursery — the overall style is simple so they’re a bit more modern in that regard, but the gilded finish still feels quite traditional which works well with the other frames and mirrors in her room.

RUG
It’s no secret that we love Ruggable’s washable rugs in our home, and they make excellent sense in a small child’s room. We chose a neutral grey-toned design (the now-discontinued Maral Border Rug in Hazel) for Sophie’s space because it felt like a nice contrast to all of the gold hardware (not wanting everything to be too “matchy-matchy”) and would be versatile enough to work with any decor adjustments.
That said, it’s super easy to swap out the rug covers so you can always change one out if there’s a design / pattern that works better with any new decor that you choose.

DRESSER / MIRROR / LIGHTING
It feels so weird not to use Sophie’s dresser for a changing table anymore, but I knew it wouldn’t last forever. This size has been great for holding her clothes, hygiene items and diapers for the past few years, but it’s also been perfect for growing with her. There’s plenty of space for Sophie’s clothes, socks & various accessories and I can totally see it being useful in the future as she grows up into tween and even into her young adult life.
I finally decided on her mirror after sharing her nursery post — it felt very appropriate for the Parisian Garden theme and I think it still works for the wildflower meadow vibe as well.
We’re not big overhead lighting fans in our family and since floor and table lamps can be a bit of a hazard for small kids, we thought the perfect solution would be sconce lighting. However, neither my husband nor I are electricians and we also weren’t keen on re-wiring the girls’ rooms so this battery operated option was the perfect solution!

BOOKCASE / READING NOOK
We’ve done some rearranging since our playroom furniture arrived and relocated Sophie’s low two shelf bookcase to Chloe’s nursery so the tall three shelf bookcases went back to Sophie’s bedroom.
We used to keep the majority of books in the playroom, but when we rearranged things we realized it made more sense to keep books in the girls’ rooms so that they can retreat to their own space to read any time they need some quiet time to themselves.
Both girls were gifted an Anywhere Chair by my godmother and Sophie’s has been such a huge hit so I know Chloe is going to enjoy hers as well. Sophie loves to lounge in the chair while reading her books in her room; it’s the perfect cozy reading spot!
The chair covers are removable and washable (thank goodness! 🤣) which means that they are interchangeable so you can buy covers separately and even switch them up seasonally if you wanted to!

Please feel free to reach out in the comments below if you see something that you’d like to have more details on!
Sending hugs —
