It feels surreal that our little girl is already starting kindergarten this fall! How does time pass so quickly?! I swear she was a toddler yesterday and I blinked… and now my big girl is officially starting elementary school. Sophie went to preschool for the past two years so she’s technically attended school before, but this just feels like more of a milestone somehow?
For Sophie’s first year of preschool I didn’t know I needed to shop in any kind of advance, but the lesson was learned; nowadays I try to secure everything we need about a month ahead of the first day. In case you’re also shopping for back-to-school supplies, I wanted to share our school’s general list for kindergarteners and what we purchased for Sophie. I want to note that the items I am linking are mostly glittery, pink, purple, pastel, floral and / or iridescent so if that vibe doesn’t suit your child, the sellers offer multiple color / pattern alternatives to choose from.
You can also always find the kindergarten classroom supplies (and more back-to-school ideas!) in my ShopMy storefront here.

SCHOOL WARDROBE STAPLES
- Sneakers
- Stretchy Laces
- No Show Socks
- Cartwheel Shorts
- T-Shirts (short sleeve // long sleeve)
Sophie is so tall that she has outgrown most shoe styles that offer Velcro straps so while we work on shoelace tying, we got her stretchy silicone laces for her sneakers (I use the adult version on some of my sneakers too) and they’ve worked like a charm!
We also purchase seasonal items like winter coats and rain boots due to our local climate, but the other items are our general must-haves.

Does anyone else have a child starting kindergarten this 2026-2027 school year? How are you holding up? I’m okay right now, but I know I’m going to be a mess on the first day of school.
Sending hugs —
xx, Natalie
