I have long lusted after a pair of Chanel cap-toe ballet flats. They seem to be the perfect go-with-anything neutral shoe. However, the pricepoint is definitely out of my budget.
I want to preface my post with this note: normally, when it comes to designer items I will save up to buy the real thing (I want to support designers by buying their products!), but because of my hyperhidrosis I tend to RUIN shoes in a very short time so I can’t always justify the cost of the designer shoes that I want!
Every once in a while I stumble across a gem of a decent designer replacement. This one happens to be made by one of my favorite shoe brands: Rothy’s! If you’re not already familiar with the brand, they make their shoes with recycled plastic and they’re washable (obviously, this makes them hyperhidrosis friendly!). The brand has a bunch of classic shoe style offerings, but I absolutely fell in love with this two-tone square toe option because of it’s likeness to the designer shoe!

I mean, can you blame me??!? 😍

There are definitely some obvious differences between the two shoes:
(1) the leather Chanel flats have their iconic logo embossed on the rounded toe box and are topped by a bow detail, (2) the Rothy’s knit version has a squared off toe box as well as vertical lines on the heel, and (3) the nude tones aren’t exactly the same (the Chanel leather color being a bit warmer), but I still feel like the Rothy’s version is a really excellent alternative for the same effect… and at a fraction of the pricepoint!

I love the neutrality and classic shape of these shoes! They’re feminine without being super “girly” and the two tone gives them interest without being flashy. I think that these shoes are going to be such an amazing addition to my shoe collection because of how versatile they are.
They can be worn with leggings, jeans, dresses… in fact, here are just a few ways that I plan to style them (snapped from my Stylebook app), but I know that I’ll wear them with so many more outfits beyond just this small sampling:

Different ways of styling with the same pair of jeans.

Easy one-and-done outfits when paired with a dress.

Distressed jeans, jumpsuits, and leather leggings, oh my!
*A note on Rothy’s sizing: I have slightly wider feet so I went with my larger shoe size since I range between a 9-9.5 depending on the style / brand. I have also done this in previously purchased Rothy’s styles and it has served me well. Even though the material is very soft and pliant (immediately comfortable & no break-in required!) the fabric does not stretch so sizing up is important, especially if you have wider feet.
Rothy’s also recently launched a limited edition set of cap-toe styles for the holidays and now I want the pointed toe version (in the camel brown tone) in my collection as well!! 😂
