I always feel conflicted during November because I want to enjoy the remainder of autumn and give Thanksgiving its moment, but the holiday season is sooo short and I want to savor that as well! Around mid-November every year I end up caving and leaning into the holiday spirit with seasonal coffee flavors and Christmas music playing, but I don’t fully embrace it until after our Thanksgiving meal — then all bets are off and the decor comes out! 😜 I hope you’re getting into the festive season too. It’s such a jolly time of year!
Regarding our holiday decor, we’re keeping it super simple and low key this year by only adding a few items as festive accents around the house. I’m sharing the items we have and love as well as some additional options in each category!

If you’ve been here for a while, you know I love a front door wreath. This is the one I snagged this year and I love it’s simplicity. I’m going to display it as-is this year, however, I love that it can easily be zhuzhed up with bows or faux berry stems or whatever, depending on I want to add to it! I linked a few other similar ones, but each with their own flair.

I’ve been big into garland for the past few years — they have sooo many uses for decor around the home… completely framing a doorway, lining a staircase (either along the railing or swooped alongside the spindles), swag over the top of a door or mirror, an accent on your fireplace mantle, or even paired with candles as a centerpiece on your dining room table! You can’t go wrong having some faux garland in your decor arsenal.

A little sprig of mistletoe is fun to have hanging around the home because it feels quintessentially festive (plus, it’s an excuse for extra smooches!). This is the best faux mistletoe that I’ve found, but there are a few more charming options linked below.

We have brass / golden accents in our home year-round so some of these items are “evergreen” and used all the time throughout the house so I love that these gilded pieces pair especially well with greenery during the holiday season! Some favorites are: jingle bells, candlestick holders / votives, and even gold ribbon in luxurious textures (lamé, satin, velvet, etc.).

I think it’s fun to add subtle decor items throughout the house such as white ceramic houses / villages along with trees made with natural elements (wood, bottle brush, pine cones) for texture. The little ceramic houses are perfect for holding little votive candles to add a cozy glow to the nooks and crannies of your home and lend a hint of nostalgia. *Note: I prefer to use flameless candles in this application.

I don’t know how I ever dealt with the annoyance of tree skirts. They bunch up, collect needles, are a pain to clean as often as is needed, and are frustrating to spread over a tree base. Tree collars are far superior in my opinion — not only are they beautiful and have a modern look with their shape, but they’re practical as well. Who cares if the pine needles fall on the inside? They’re not visible to anyone so you can just wait until you’re taking your tree down to clean them up. Any needles that fall on the outside of the collar are a breeze to sweep or vacuum up. The only knock against them is that they’re a bit more challenging to store compared to folding up a tree skirt, but it’s worth it in my opinion!
Happy holiday decor shopping, friends!
Sending hugs —
xx, Natalie
