Honestly, I don’t know how this magical product has been kept a secret for so long??
I first heard about Olaplex from Kelly in the City. She dedicated an entire blog post to the product because she found so much success with it after having her daughter Emma. I finally ordered a bottle of the at-home treatment for myself because my hair is fine and prone to breakage.
I already make a pretty good effort to take care of my hair by doing things like: using this shampoo and conditioner combination, applying heat protectant when using styling tools, combing / brushing when my hair is dry instead of when it’s wet, when combing / brushing I start at the ends and work my way up to my scalp (instead of creating massive tangly rat nests), braiding my hair instead of putting it in a ponytail for workouts, etc.
I was so excited when I heard about an effective product that I could be using to nourish and strengthen my damaged hair!

This 100mL bottle of at-home Olaplex treatment is less than $30 and is worth every penny. I can always feel a difference in my hair after using it! The instructions say that you only need to leave it in for 10 minutes for it to take effect, but I usually try to leave it on my hair for as long as possible so that the product has maximum time to saturate each strand.
When I have the time, I will apply the solution to my hair as soon as I get home from work and if I’m planning to leave it on overnight I’ll clip it up into a bun and put a shower cap on so that my pillowcase stays clean! I know that the absorption stops at a certain point, but it also can’t hurt to leave it on longer. 😉

Using Olaplex Hair Perfector No.3 seriously couldn’t be easier:
Step 1: Wet your hair (I put my head under the faucet in the bath / shower to soak it when I’m not taking a full shower LOL),
Step 2: Gently towel dry your hair so that it goes from soaked to damp,
Step 3: Apply Olaplex to your damp hair, starting at the scalp and working your way down to the ends; use as much product as necessary to completely coat your hair from root to tip (my hair is fine, but it’s long and there’s a lot of it so I probably use more than average),
Step 4: Twist your hair up into a topknot / “pineapple” and secure; allow product to saturate your hair for at least 10 minutes (put a shower cap on if you plan to keep it on overnight),
Step 5: Rinse product out thoroughly before washing your hair as normal.

The instructions on the bottle also recommend multiple applications a week (2-3 times) to get the best repairing and strengthening effects for damaged tresses. After using Olaplex on my dry, straw-like hair it always feels way more silky and healthy.
You won’t regret giving it a try, I promise. 😊

*EDIT: Apparently even beauty mogul Bobbi Brown approves of Olaplex! You can read her love letter to the product here.
