I love embracing different holidays and sharing them with Sophie. I truly enjoy encouraging the magic of each holiday with a small gift basket — think like an Easter basket, but for birthdays, Halloween, Christmas, etc. They don’t necessarily have to include toys or treats; in fact, I think the best items to include are ones related to activities you can do together (pumpkin decorating kits, cookie baking supplies, and other hands-on crafts).

I love to make “spooky season” magical for Sophie so I added a few fun seasonal items to her playroom to reflect the holiday:
Playful Halloween Art & Frame
I loved this little hanging canvas banner so much, but I felt like the area I had planned to display it is better served holding play items. With that same inspiration, I bought printable art on Etsy and placed it inside of Sophie’s little art display frame box instead.
Garland
This friendly ghost garland was way too cute to pass up! I love the whimsy it adds to Sophie’s playroom for Halloween.
Basket & Filler
I am repurposing a pantry basket (this is the filler I love to use because it works for all seasons), but you could absolutely use more festive pieces such as the basket / bowl you use to offer candy to trick-or-treaters, or simply fill your little one’s trick-or-treating bucket or bag itself!

I also stuck this little felt pennant flag into the basket, which I thought Sophie would love (and we can reuse every year as a tradition)! If you have multiple kiddos, these acrylic tags would be a precious way to mark which basket belongs to whom.

These are the items that I put into Sophie’s Boo Basket this year!
ACTIVITIES

TOYS
…
PAJAMAS
I just couldn’t resist grabbing a fall / Halloween-inspired set of jammies (you can never have too many!). This is the pair that I bought for Sophie, but I’ve linked a bunch of other cute contenders.
…

SNACKS
Sweet Loren’s Cookie Dough
*refrigerated, so not technically IN the basket

Some additional ideas that I loved, but they didn’t make the cut because we already have [some version of] them or they’re better suited for older kiddos:
CRAFTS / ACTIVITIES
Color Your Own Haunted House Kit
Halloween Dot Art Coloring Book
…
TOYS
Unwrap Surprise Ball
(which you can totally DIY!)
…
TREATS
Spooky Fruit Bites
**Allergen Friendly
Mini Pouches of Halloween Oreos
A Variety of Themed Gummies, Chocolates and Candies
…
BATH FUN
Sweet Apple Body Wash & Lotion Set
Spooky Surprise Bath Bombs

(an assortment of our favorite Halloween books from previous years!)
I hope you have as much fun putting together boo baskets for your little ones as I did for Sophie!
Happy [early] Halloween, friends!
Sending hugs —
xx, Natalie
