I’m not normally one to hop on a trend, but I am crazy about the quilted jackets we’ve been seeing for the past few years. They seem like great mid-weight layering options for staying cozy on chillier days and nights because they’re essentially wearable blankets!
I know that this “trend” isn’t exactly new, but they seem to be trending lately and I love the way they’ve been reimagined in recent times with a more feminine flair (floral prints, puffed sleeves, fun collars, soft pastel shades, tie closures, etc). Obviously, you really can’t go wrong with the classic colors and cuts either — it’s totally up to you and your sartorial preferences!
I’ve rounded up all of my favorites and had such a difficult time deciding on the one that would be best for my closet. I finally pulled the trigger and can’t wait to start styling it (now if only Seattle’s temperatures would cooperate… 😜).
SOLIDS
There’s something eternally classic about solid colored outerwear… you can’t go wrong! All of my outerwear layers are solid so this time I opted for a print, but I still chose a classic color (olive green) and since it’s reversible and the floral print is small I plan to wear that side like a solid.

PRINTS
I love adding some whimsy to an outfit with a fun accessory, and in this case: outerwear! It makes it so easy to give an otherwise boring outfit a bit of interest.

STYLING
If you’re not feeling entirely sure about how these jackets will fit into your wardrobe, these are a few ways that I plan to wear my new printed jacket for now and for later:

Additionally, if you’re interested in trying the trend without investing a lot of money into it, I highly recommend shopping secondhand on either Poshmark (click here for $10 off your first purchase!) or Mercari which are my two favorite online “thrift shops”. From there just search for “quilted jackets for women” — you may find some gems!
Happy shopping, friends!
Sending hugs —
xx, Natalie
