These pant options are perfect alternatives for the cooler months of the year when you just don’t feel like wearing jeans, they add some dimension and interest to an outfit (and not to mention, are quite warm)! My favorite pant fabrics for autumn and winter are leather, suede (both faux, of course), velvet, corduroy, and tweed. Because of their literal heavier weight, they add a textural richness to an ensemble that you can’t achieve with other fabrics. Plus, they’re great to mix and match with both suede and leather boots!

Faux Leather
I have owned a pair of SPANX faux leather leggings for years now and I absolutely love them. If you swap them for your usual basic leggings it can elevate an otherwise simple outfit (paired with the right accessories). The classic black is super versatile (and a bit “edgy”), but even the other rich autumn tones would be easy to mix in to your wardrobe. I also have a pair of faux leather leggings in a cognac color that I got during a ShopBop sale a few years ago and I love to pull them out during the cooler months!

Faux Suede
Previously, suede has felt tricky for me to style with my wardrobe, but I don’t know what my hangup was because they’re super easy to wear! I just ordered my first pair (also from SPANX 😅) and I can’t wait to start wearing them!

Corduroy
I love corduroy. I even got Sophie some cords to wear this year because I think they’re just so quintessential for the season! I’ve found them available in so many fun colors (as you can see in the graphic above).

Tweed
I would argue that wool is the best of these fabrics at maintaining heat so if you get especially cold as the seasons change, I would urge you to invest in a pair of tweed pants! They’re great for professional and casual settings alike and would even be cute to wear on a date night!

Velvet
Admittedly, I always think of velvet as being more of a winter / holiday material, but you could totally start rocking any of these pairs of pants in the fall! They work great as holiday party attire when paired with the right top and shoes, especially when it’s too cold to wear a dress!
