Another trip around the sun — I am turning 34 today, which feels incredibly surreal because I don’t feel any older than 26. Life is crazy!
Due to the pandemic’s raging delta variant and having a newborn, we are skipping our annual trip to Napa Valley this year (which breaks my heart, but it’s the right thing to do). Instead, we’ll be keeping it super simple at home with good food, cake, champagne, and spending time together as a family of three. Speaking of which, what better way to celebrate my birthday than to share my favorite photos from Sophie’s newborn shoot! (Let’s be real, it’s not about me any more anyway 😂). Becoming a wife and mama has been a dream-come-true for me and what I’ve wished for on so many birthdays. While parenting certainly comes with its challenges, the wonderful times we’ve had way outweigh the tough moments and I am just feeling so fulfilled! (Please don’t come for me, feminists! 😬)
If you’ve ever read any of my personal or wedding-related blog posts, then you’ve seen the gorgeous photos from our friends at Blue Rose Photography. Brittany and Joe have captured all of our important milestones, from our engagement, wedding, pregnancy announcement, maternity and now Sophie’s newborn photos! Narrowing down the image selections from our photoshoot to fit into a blog post felt like an almost impossible task, so please bear with me on this lengthy post of baby Sophie photos.
I can’t believe that these were taken a month ago… she looks so much tinier in these photos compared to the way she looks today. I knew that in the future when I looked back on this post that it would make me cry, but I didn’t expect to tear up while putting it together! Just as I suspected, our moments with Sophie are already going by so fast; time is a damn thief!
Our Little Sophie Marie

I could stare at her all day long (spoiler alert: I do! 😅).

The way she gazes at her daddy is so heartwarming.

These itty bitty toes…

… and the littlest dimpled hands with the tightest grip.

My little squish!

I didn’t think it was possible to love my husband more than I did before we had a baby, but somehow I do; he’s just the best to his girls. 🥰

The two loves of my life.

I know that babies’ eyes are likely to change color by the time they turn a year old, but right now the deep blue color Sophie currently has is the same color as her daddy’s eyes and they just make me melt.

I just can’t handle the sweetness!

Our little wiggleworm is always on-the-go so blurry “action shots” are pretty much inevitable. 😂

You can kind of see her little left cheek dimple here!

My Sophie Girl, I love you so.

I hope we always laugh together!

Oh, be still my heart.

I love our little family beyond measure.

I think this one may be the one that we frame for our house; I absolutely adore this family photo.

These kissable, squeezable little cheeks!!!

Outfit Details
Sophie’s swaddle and velvet bow headband are LouLou & Co.; floral onesie is Jamie Kay; her pale mauve onesie is Colored Organics.
Matt’s shirt is from Filson and his pants are from Railcar.
This beautiful dress was on loan to me. It’s from quite a few seasons past by
PinkBlush, but I’m sharing the link with the dress info in case you want to sign up for notifications if PinkBlush ever happens to bring it back OR you want to look for it secondhand on a website like Poshmark. That being said, this is a silhouette that PinkBlush always seems to carry so you can likely find something comparable from their current season!
*Top Tip: don’t forget to take the material of the dress that you choose into consideration because you will be holding your baby and don’t want a fabric that will be rough / scratchy (like something that is beaded or lacy). I recommend a fabric such as chiffon that would lend an ethereal, feminine effect to the photos while also being soft on baby’s new skin.
I’m so grateful that for this birthday (and for the rest of my birthdays!) I get to be Sophie’s mama. I guess wishing on all of those candles was worth it after all… 😊
Sending hugs —
xx, Natalie
