You may have already read about my journey to finding non-alcoholic beverage options while I have been pregnant and over these past months I have come to enjoy them so much that going forward when I am creating a drink at home they’re going to be non-alcoholic (disclaimer: this rule will not include wine 😜). Thankfully, making this decision doesn’t mean that I have to sacrifice any of the flavor!
In honor of Cinco De Mayo today I thought I would share some of my favorite tequila recipes while featuring my new favorite all non-alcoholic cocktail ingredients! The stars of these drinks are: Ritual Zero Proof Tequila and Lyre’s Orange Sec.
That being said, the recipes that I am sharing can totally be made boozy by simply using traditional alcohol with the same measurements; I’ve linked bottles of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic items so that everyone can use what they prefer!

I was beyond impressed with both the tequila and triple sec alternative products when I was searching for pregnancy-safe cocktail ingredients. The tequila even “burns” a bit like real tequila does! I wouldn’t say that it necessarily tastes like it on it’s own so I wouldn’t drink it neat or take shots (haha!), but when mixed in a cocktail it’s absolutely divine.
I’m also personally trying to be a bit more conscious of my sugar intake right now so I’ll be substituting any recipes that call for agave syrup with my beloved Skinny Simple Syrup, but for a more authentic beverage flavor I recommend sticking with the agave.

I’ve always been obsessed with the combination of tequila and citrus — I honestly can’t get enough of the pairing! I don’t discriminate on the variety of citrus so I’m sharing some drink recipes that you could make with whatever fruit you happen have on hand… lime, grapefruit, orange, even lemon!
¡Ven conmigo!

MARGARITA:
Classic:
– 2 ounces of tequila (NA tequila)
– 1 ounce of lime juice
– 1 ounce of Cointreau (NA triple sec)
Wet rim of glasses with lime juice; dip glass into plate of salt (or Tajin!). Fill your shaker ¾ full with ice; add tequila, lime juice and triple sec. Place cap on the shaker and shake for 30 seconds. Add fresh ice to glass and pour contents of the shaker into it, being careful not to pour it over the salted rim. Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim of the glass and serve!

Pour 1 ounce of Grand Marnier into a shot glass, set aside. Place cap on the shaker and shake for 30 seconds. Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim of the glass, pour Grand Marnier into margarita and serve!
*(If you’re curious about what the difference is between Grand Marnier and Cointreau like I was, this article had a great explanation; I always assumed they were interchangeable, so this was pretty informative!)
PALOMA:
Classic:
– 2 ounces tequila — blanco or reposado (NA tequila)
– 4 ounces grapefruit soda OR use equal parts grapefruit juice and soda water
– ¼ to ½ ounce fresh squeezed lime juice
– salt for the rim
Wet rim of glasses with water or lime juice; dip glass into plate of salt. Add fresh ice to glass and pour in your tequila and fresh squeezed lime juice. Top with grapefruit soda or equal parts grapefruit juice and soda water and give a gentle stir to incorporate. Garnish with a slice of lime or grapefruit on the rim of the glass and serve!
OTHER:
Lemon Twist:
– 2 ½ ounces silver tequila (NA tequila)
– 1 ½ ounces fresh lemon juice
– ¾ ounce agave (or simple syrup)
– dash orange bitters
– sugar or salt for the rim
Wet rim of glasses with lemon juice; dip glass into plate of sugar or salt. Fill your shaker ¾ full with ice; add tequila, lemon juice, agave and bitters. Place cap on the shaker and shake for 30 seconds. Add fresh ice to your glass and strain contents of the shaker into it, being careful not to pour it over the sugared rim. Garnish with a lemon slice on the rim of the glass and serve!

I am beyond grateful that I can continue to enjoy margaritas (and palomas!) throughout my pregnancy! Major thank you to Ritual and Lyre’s for making it possible. 🙌🏼

Click here for 10% off your first 700mL bottle purchase of Lyre’s! I absolutely adore their “Italian Spritz” (Aperol alternative) and also recently tried their “American Malt” (Bourbon substitute) for the first time, as shared in this post, and it was delicious as well! I’m really intrigued to try their “White Cane Spirit” (aka Rum) next.

Click here for $7 off your first order of Skinny Mixes / Syrups! I absolutely love using their Margarita Mixes when I just don’t have the patience to juice a ton of fruit. 🙃
If you’re in the market for bar gear: I love this citrus squeezer for freshly squeezed juices and want this full bar set! I’m not crazy about the one that we have currently and would love to upgrade!
¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo, Amigos!
Sending hugs —
