We loved having another family photoshoot with Brittany, this time in a beautiful, new-to-us studio!
This year’s color scheme was inspired by Sophie’s dress! We bought it for her to wear to watch the Nutcracker ballet since it looks similar to the costumes of the “snowflakes” and I really wanted to have it professionally captured because it’s so beautiful! Everything else just fell into place.
I am always frustrated shopping for these photos because I want to secure our outfits sooner than later. This pressure is due to the fact that we need to have the photos taken early enough in the year for our photographer to take the photos, send them to the lab for developing / scanning, then for the photographer to get them back for culling and to make any final edits before we then choose our photo(s), design our holiday cards, have them printed, envelopes stuffed, sealed, stamped and in the mail to arrive in time for Christmas!
Unfortunately, this feels like the one time that the fashion industry isn’t pushing the next season’s styles yet so what’s available are often a lot of autumn items… godspeed if you’re shopping for winter because it’s a pain in the neck if you’re trying to get everything together in September.
Here’s what I chose for our family this year:

Chloe:
Bow // Sweater // Skirt // Socks
Chloe’s exact knit wool bubble sweater and pond skirt [skort] are in the color “ink” and by Misha & Puff that I originally bought for Sophie years ago so I am linking some similar items. Her velvet bow headband is from Etsy and the bow socks are from Amazon.
…
Sophie:
Bow // Dress // Shrug // Shoes
Sophie’s exact dress is the Poppy dress from Noralee in color in color “cloud”. Her tulle hair bow is the Fairy Bow in “moon” by Jamie Kay and I found her little shrug cardigan & shoes on Amazon.
…
Mom:
Obsessed with my navy long sleeved dress by Abercrombie! The fabric is so soft but substantial — I love the slit in the leg and the hardware makes it feel a little elevated. I paired it with my beloved Loeffler Randall Penny heels in platinum and for visual interest / texture in photos I added a faux fur shawl wrap from Amazon.
…
Dad:
Jac-Shirt // Shirt // Jeans // Shoes
My husband’s outer layer is a grey wool jac-shirt by Filson and is a RRL by Ralph Lauren devotee when it comes to essentials so that’s where his twill work shirt button down and his slim straight style jeans are from. He’s also obsessed with his Iron Ranger boots by Red Wing (he has them in sooo many colors).

If you’re looking for more family photo outfit inspiration, I have collected a lot of inspiration here and you can purchase shoppable family lookbooks here.
Happy family photoshoot season! 😅
Sending big hugs —
xx, Natalie
