… And Baby Makes Four

Chloe has finally arrived! I can hardly believe it’s officially been a whole month with our [tiniest] little lady.

We recently had our beloved family photographer Brittany over to our house to capture Chloe at just 8 days old. Historically, we have gone to Brittany and Joe’s Seattle studio space for these kinds of photos (like for Sophie’s newborn shoot!), but this time we had pictures taken in our home, which was such a fun change! 🥹 It also made it SUPER easy for wrangling a toddler and a newborn — not having to leave the house was pretty amazing and being in our own space made the photos all the more special!

In addition to capturing Chloe in all of her newborn glory at this session, we also wanted to be sure to include the whole family during this special time.

Over the past 3 years (first year; second year) I have tried to schedule a family photoshoot around Sophie’s birthday in June to document her growth — I’m so happy that we can continue that tradition because both girls have June birthdays! This newborn family shoot will also serve as Sophie’s 3rd Birthday session.

Oh my goodness — Chloe is SO tiny!

Brittany arrived around 11:00am because that’s when the light would be most ideal during this time of year. Since we were taking photos indoors the light situation needs to be a bit stronger than we would want it to be if we were to shoot outdoors.

I don’t know how Brittany creates such magic, but she truly does an amazing job capturing the sweet moments within the chaos that is life with a toddler and a newborn. 🤪

I can’t get over how well the photos turned out and how much the girls look alike! From some angles, Chloe looks just like newborn Sophie and I am immediately transported back to three years ago when I first became a mom. Genetics are wild!

Sophie has been so excited to meet her little sister; it’s been super sweet to see them together. 🥹🥰

The girls did such a great job during our session! You never really know what you’re going to get from kids during a photoshoot so I took this as a BIG win!

Secretly, in my heart-of-hearts, I have always wanted to have two girls, but I never let myself really acknowledge that hope because I knew that getting the gender you are hoping for it is never guaranteed so I just let that dream go. I still can’t believe that I got my wish! 🥹

We would have loved a baby boy if that was in the cards for us, but I can’t tell you how truly thrilled we are to have two little girls.

I wore a “White Lace Mesh Overlay Off Shoulder Maxi Dress” from Pinkblush. I was interested in an off-the-shoulder design because I didn’t want / need full length sleeves in the hot summer temperatures, but I still wanted a little bit of coverage on my arms since they’re not my favorite feature. I really loved this dress and hope to get more use out of it!

I appreciate that the Pinkblush website navigation includes options in the dress dropdown menu such as: “baby shower dresses, photoshoot gowns, occasion / evening dresses,” etc. which makes it so easy to narrow down your search if you’re looking for something specific. While my exact dress is from a past season (I bought it on Poshmark), there is a very similar dress currently available on the Pinkblush website!

Sophie wore a Baby Gap “Eyelet Dress” that I adore — so much so that I’ve purchased it in multiple sizes so she has had one to wear for multiple stages of growth. Because the dress is from a past season, I linked some similar styles below in the widget.

Chloe is wearing a onesie from my favorite children’s clothing brand (Jamie Kay) and her velvet bow headband is from the most adorable Etsy shop.

My husband wore a white button down and some khakis, which is often what I ask him to wear for photos because it’s straightforward for him to get dressed and also keeps with the neutral aesthetic I’m trying to achieve in the photos. Definitely a win-win (if you’ve ever coordinated outfits for a family photoshoot, you know exactly what I mean 😜).

If you’re looking, I have even more outfit ideas for newborn photos here!

It was SO hard to choose which photos I wanted to include in this post and I know it will be even tougher to make decisions on which images to print out for framing in our home (which I can’t wait to do, by the way!).

I cherish these photos so much. Of course, the days can have their challenging moments, but these images embody everything I have ever dreamed of for my life. Here we go headfirst into life as a family of four… wish us luck! 😅

Sending hugs —
xx, Natalie
