Family Photos for Sophie’s Second Birthday

Our sweet Sophie girl is two!

It’s become a tradition for us to have family photos taken around Sophie’s birthday every year and this year we chose to have them taken at a local blueberry farm! Ever since Sophie started eating solids, her absolute favorite food has been blueberries so we thought it would be fun to take her straight to the source.

This U-Pick farm was so beautiful, well kept, and had SO MANY varieties of blueberries. I honestly thought there were just “high bush” and “low bush” blueberries, but there are so many varieties even within those types! If you’re local to the Seattle area, I highly recommend making a visit to The Rusty Plow Farm for fresh blueberries (and I strongly suggest scheduling a photoshoot here as well!).

We planned our session for [evening] Golden Hour and we were rewarded with the most dreamy light! The farm proprietors (Dave & Sue) were also extremely kind, wonderful to work with, and so generous for allowing us take photos on their property.

We were so honored to work with Kerry of Kerry Jeanne Photography again! She captured our family photos last summer around Sophie’s first birthday and we were so excited to work with her again this year.

We love working with Kerry — she grabs the best candid images and I love what she sees through her lens. She captures such great photos, which I would argue is especially challenging when you have a very mobile toddler as a subject! 😂

Sophie had such a fun time exploring around the berry shrubs and I’m pretty certain that she ended up eating her body weight in blueberries during this hour session. 😂 I highly recommend a fruit farm location for a family photoshoot because it makes for a really fun and relaxed experience!

There was also a LOT of scampering down the rows of berries.

Like, a lot. 😆

And plenty of snuggles too.

For this shoot I wore the Birdie Dress in French Toile by Noralee. I love the fabric, the print and the cut! It’s an older print but Noralee usually has at least one version of this dress available! You may also be able to find this exact one secondhand on Poshmark or Mercari.

Sophie is wearing the Gingham Sylvie Dress in Sky by my favorite children’s clothing brand: Jamie Kay. I bought this dress last year and saved it for this year so it’s not currently available, but Jamie Kay has so many cute clothes, you can be guaranteed to find something “photoshoot worthy”.

My husband’s wardrobe is largely Ralph Lauren so it comes as no surprise to me that this outfit is entirely from their RRL line. This is his denim shirt (he loves this shirt so much that he bought a second as a “backup” 🥹) and these are his slim fit jeans (which he has in multiple washes and loves!). Lastly, his boots are his go-to Red Wing Iron Rangers.

It’s been so fun to see Sophie’s personality emerge this year. She’s becoming her own little person and I’ve loved getting to know her. She’s such a sweet and tender hearted little gal — I adore her sensitive little soul.

How is she two years old already?! Where did my sweet baby go? She’s a full-on little girl now!

I especially adore this candid snap of the three of us — I need to get it printed and framed for our house!

Happy Second Birthday, Sophie, and thank you for the gift of memory capturing, Kerry!

Sending hugs —
xx, Natalie
